First day back at school, Monday 9th February 2009

Larmenier School was established in 1961 by the Sisters of Nazareth. Initially it was a very small school with boys leaving after Grade Two to go to St Patricks. We are now a co-educational school with a kindergarten that was added in 1992. The Sisters of Nazareth left the school in 2003.

Larmenier school is located in a picturesque rural setting in St Leonards overlooking the North Esk River, 10 minutes from the CBD of Launceston. In 2005 the development of an animal and garden program began, making it unique among other Catholic Schools in Tasmania.

Larmenier strives to cater for a range of abilities and has specialist teachers who implement music, speech, special education and physical education programs. Larmenier embraces Information and Computer Technology. All classrooms have internet access. 2006 saw the first interactive whiteboard installed. We have a swimming pool, ideal for learners, and extensive school grounds that include a sports oval, a netball court, a tennis court and cricket pitch. We have sun protected play equipment for all students. Grades 5 and 6 participate in an inter-school sports roster during Terms One and Two.
